Dojo Etiquette

Dojo Etiquette: BKC

  • Always be on time for class
  • Remove shoes and all jewellery before entering the Dojo
  • Let seniors enter the dojo first
  • Be polite to your instructors, seniors and elders
  • Line up according to belt (highest on left of dojo)
  • Bow when entering or exiting the dojo
  • While training, listen carefully and seriously to the advice of your Sensei and always acknowledge that you have heard and understood the advice
  • Keep your Gi neat and tidy
  • Keep fingernails and toenails short to prevent injury
  • Handle all equipment with care and put it back in the right place
  • Students may not criticise each other
  • No student shall provoke violence or allow themselves to be provoked
  • All personal, religious, or political agendas are to be left at the dojo door. Karate is not a practice to promote or further any of these individual beliefs or practices, and we will not be associated with it outside the dojo
  • Practice the highest level of respect to all dojo staff and members
  • It takes more than a Sensei to make the dojo safe, happy, and successful

We welcome all ages and abilities, focusing on self-discipline, confidence, and growth.
